Strike--huzzah!

Thanksgiving weekend 2005. A much needed break from school, many people were in town, from Shaun, Jack and even the ever elusive Danny. We went bowling on thanksgiving night because it was the only place open all night on that particular holiday...you would think it being Vegas we would have more options (lets not forget how I hold the group back with my age).Any who, bowling ended up being really fun, even though I usually don't enjoy it. It was so fun that we went back again later that weekend.

In the pic we see a jubilant Jeff after a strike.

My Morning Jacket @Fillmore 11.12.05

So on Wednesday of this week I here that Shaun's sister Staci is thinking about going up to San Francisco for her birthday and wants to go to a concert. Well after looking we couldn't find any shows, she suggest this band called "My Morning Jacket"--I had never heard of these guys and I inquire as to where she heard them, "PBS" is the reply...I'm a bit skeptical, so I go on line and check out some of their music, it's pretty mellow, but I read some concert reviews which say that they are really hard live. The night of the concert, my expectations still aren't very high, but I do think it will be a good show, after all it is in the Fillmore. The opening act comes on...it's rap--slightly shocked at first, I quickly become a fan of the performer, Saul Williams. Next My Morning Jacket came on and put on a incredible show...very loud, very hard and quite fun. I'm glad I went to this show, it really opened my eyes to how some bands might be good on the albums but just extraordinary live. Thank you PBS, you are super cool.

Bears & Katamari

This weekend started of quite well, I had multiple sushi encounters and I bought We ♥ Katamari. The first game, Katamari Damacy was great, the artwork, gameplay and the music were all so well done that the game became one of my favorites. This new game doesn't really hit you as hard, because the gameplay for the most part is the same, however the story in this one totally makes up for it....every time a CG sequence comes on to tell me how the King of All Cosmos was abused as a child, I get glued to the screen---pure genius. The game does everything better than the original, but the first one always feels like a better experience.

After spending most of my Friday playing this game (watching the Wills bros play it while I try to buy a PSP) I left the safety of my house to venture into Truckee to the cabin of our friend Frenchie. The food was great, good times were had. Then as we got in our car to leave the cabin and drove but ~50ft down the street there was a fucking bear....in the middle of the street. Jake (Pictured on the left, giving me the finger) was the first to sight the bear, which we were about to hit with the car, and began to scream "Holyfuck a fucking bear!" We didn't hit the bear, but were concerned that a bear was walking about the neighborhood. The night came to end when we got back to Reno, went to party that really didn't turn out---went home and I put away the dishes while posing as Ray Charles.

Relief from The Test

I took the MCATs today, I had been preparing for this test for about the last 3 months and it felt awesome to finally take it. It really felt weird in the test room because some of the people taking the test with me were high school biology teachers or people with masters degrees and extensive balding. However, there were many people from my classes as well, which helped to comfort me. Now that it's over I essentially have nothing to do for the next year or two, other than write my thesis and work at some hospitals "helping people." For now, all I'm interested in doing is sitting here and enjoy listening to the Deftones. Tomorrow morning I go to Vegas and relax at my parents for the next week, before Fall semester starts on the 29th.

My Gadget bag '05

The editor of my favorite blog and possible favorite website "quit" over at Gizmodo . So I kind of had the idea to do a "What's in your gadget bag" sort-of-thing, which they used to do over at gizmodo (i.e. link), except I'm doing it to my self.

The above shot is pretty much all my belongings that I have here with me at school, almost literally (I have some books and a futon too!). Any who, I'm going to list off the hardware ascending to my favorite:

6. My phone (duh!) the Nokia 6800 , this thing was cool when I bought it, like a while back, but now it's beat to shit. Although it can still make and receive calls fine, a phone should do a lot more than that.

5. Delicious nectar of life....Red Bull. I hate drinking the stuff, but not as much as falling asleep in the library for 3 hours.

4.The GBA SP with Wario Ware Twisted. I liked my GBA before Wario Ware, now however it is loved on a completely different level. If you haven't played Wario Ware, then you haven't really.....um spun yourself around pretending you're an ice-skating princess.

3. Sony Fontopia headphones. Just spend the $50 and get these headphones, they are so worth it. Once you've used in-ear headphones (good ones at least) you will never want to have it any other way.

2. The Archos AV 420! In all honesty this is the best purchase I have ever made. This is my second archos, I had the av300, loved it, but the 400 series just totally blows everything away. I've had this particular one for about 1 year now and it has been great. I use it every single day, when I'm at school I'm listening to music on it, when I'm at home it's hooked up to the tv and I'm either watching something on it or listening to music from it and of course I have never ever been on any trip of any sort in the last two years with out either the av300 or the av400...if you don't have a PMP or an mp3 player I strongly suggest you pick up an archos.

1. The Sharp Actius MP30...my laptop (the link goes to a gizmodo review). I love this thing, it weighs less than any of my books, which is very helpful since carrying around 2 books is bad enough. It's is more than powerful enough to play my games (not like I ever do) and I love the size...since I have really tiny hand with long fingers.

Well that's everything worth mentioning, not that I don't like my other computers/gadgets or anything like that.
